Painters in La Cloche

Painters in La Cloche

Five members of the Group of Seven and many of their contemporaries painted in the Grace Lake, Whitefish Falls, Willisville and McGregor Bay areas of La Cloche. Franklin Carmichael, A. J. Casson, A. Y. Jackson, Arthur Lismer and J. E. H. McDonald painted and stayed in the area at different times from the 1920s until the 1960s.
Joachin Gauthier, York Wilson, Sir Fredrick Banting and Isabel McLaughlin are just a few of the artists who painted with them.
A partial list of La Cloche painters is available on the lacloche.ca website by clicking here. http://lacloche.ca/artists.html
In 1936 members of the Canadian Group of Painters visited and painted the Whitefish Falls / Willisville area and this photo was taken.
